Landscape beds without a defined border are one of those things that quietly bother homeowners for years. Mulch migrates into the grass, mowing gets tricky along the edges, and the whole yard just looks a little unfinished. It's a common problem - and concrete curbing is one of the cleanest ways to fix it for good.
On this Avon home, we installed continuous concrete curbing all the way around the foundation beds, including along a sloped section of the backyard that wraps the full length of the house. The curbing follows the natural contour of the yard, giving every angle a clean, deliberate look. No plastic edging that heaves out of the ground. No metal strip that rusts over time. Just solid concrete that stays put.
We used a slate roller stamp on this one, which gives the curb that segmented, textured appearance instead of a smooth rounded edge. Paired with a deep charcoal color, it really pops against the green grass and complements the dark trim on the home. That combination - the texture and the color - is what takes it from functional to finished.
What we love about concrete curbing is how much it simplifies yard maintenance once it's in. The border acts as a hard stop between turf and bed, so mowing along the foundation becomes a straight shot. No more hand-trimming or re-edging beds every season. The curb holds its line year after year, even through freeze-thaw cycles.
If your beds are losing their shape or you're tired of fighting the same edging battle every spring, concrete curbing is worth a serious look. It's one of those upgrades that pays off in both curb appeal and time saved every single week.
